Go To Birthday Cake with Cloudburst Frosting

This cake and icing recipe comes from Alicia Paulson of Posie Gets Cozy. I made it one weekend and it is divine. It is quite high maintenance but worth every bite. It doesn't last long! The icing is superb and best made first, before you start the cake.

Go To Birthday Cake

2 cups sugar
1 3/4 c flour
3/4 c cocoa
1 1/2 tsp Baking Powder
1 1/2 tsp Baking Soda
1 tsp Salt
2 eggs
1 c milk
1/2 c vegetable oil
2 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup boiling water
1/2 cup of fresh hot coffee

Hesat oven to 350degF. Grease and flour 2 9inch round pans. Stir together sugar, flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda and salt in a large bowl. Add eggs, milk, oil and vanilla. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.
Carefully stir in boiling water and coffee.
Pour into pans.
Bake for 30-35 minutes. Cool in pan for 10 minutes. Remove and cool completely.

Frost with cloudburst frosting.
