Australian BBQ Meatballs

This is one of our favourite meals. Everyone loves it, and I've even had one dinner guest tell me that it melted in his mouth. It's easy and for this family of 6 hungry mouths, it usually does two nights.

Australian BBQ Meatballs

Meatball Ingredients:

1 kg mince
1 large onion (or 2 small onions)
1TBSP Italian seasoning (or mixed herbs if you don't have IS)
1 clove Garlic
1/2 tsp Salt
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1 TBSP Curry (if you like it spicy. I usually add a scant teaspoonful for my family)
1 egg, beaten
1/4-1/2 cup milk

Mix this all together well. You may not need all the milk. Form into golf-sized balls and lay in a roasting dish lined with baking paper (up the sides as well).
Bake in a 190degC oven for 30 minutes.
While they are cooking, prepare the sauce.

BBQ Sauce

1 TBSP Butter
3/4 cup ketchup or tomato sauce
1/2 cup beef stock
1/4 cup Steak Sauce
1/2 cup Worcester Sauce
2 TBSP White Vinegar
1/2 cup Brown Sugar
3 TBSP Lemon Juice

Put all ingredients together into a small pot and stir over a low heat until the butter is melted and the ingredients are combined.

After the meatballs have been cooking for 30 minutes, take them out of the oven and drain off any excess fat (this is the tricky part)! Then pour the sauce over the meatballs and return the pan to the oven for a further 30 minutes.

Serve with Spaghetti.
