Savoury Scones

These are delicious for lunch with hot butter. Really tasty! It would work well with all kinds of different savoury options too. Red pepper, tomato, chives etc.

Ingredients:

2 cups self-raising flour
2 TBSP Cream
1 cup milk

1 cup grated cheese
1 small carrot, grated
2 rashers of bacon, chopped
1-2 TBSP finely grated onion
2 TBSP parsley, finely chopped

Method:

Mix the extra ingredients together and stir the flour into it, until well mixed.
Add the cream and the milk and mix together with a knife.
If the dough is too stiff, add more milk. If it is too sticky, add more flour.
Turn onto a floured surface and knead until smooth.
Cut into rounds and place on a lined baking tray and brush with milk.
Bake at 180degC until golden.

*Cream doesn't have to be fresh. It can be cream which has soured.

  1. Hi Rachel
I made these at lunchtime with my little girl and they were really tasty. Thanks for sharing the recipe - it is great using the cream instead of having to rub in butter to the flour. Worked really well - Katie (who is one) enjoyed eating them as much as making them.
